Shortly before Christmas 2020, Prime Pump had an urgent request for a solution from a major civil project. A site settlement pond was filling up with silt and its locationwas exceptionally challenging; steep and completely inaccessible to conventional “sucker trucks” or diggers.
The de-silting work also needed to be carried out before workers returned to site and before there was significant rainfall which could have resulted in dirty water spilling out of the pond into the valley below.
Timing was tight.
An Australian designed and manufactured SolidsvacSV70 was carefully lowered by ropes onto the site near the settlement pond. The very fine silt in the pond was hard-packed meaning more liquid had to be added to allow it to be moved. Even so, the hard working Solidsvac, the world’s only continuous flow solids pump,was transferring very high concentrations of silt to the Geotech bag higher up the site for settling and, ultimately, safe disposal.
Brent Petrie, who was onsite for Prime Pump, says the job was difficult, particularly in the wet and slippery conditions. “However, the Solidsvac is enormously powerful and in 7-8 hours, we got it done.”
