Certificate/Chemical Water Treatment

An increasing focus on water quality has seen Prime Pump not only source world-leading products to help meet clients’ needs, but also invest in specialist staff training.

The first cohort of eight Prime Pump team members from around New Zealand recently completed professional development certificates in the chemical treatment of water. Special Projects / R&D Team Leader Brent Petrie says the aim is to demystify water treatment for clients, and partner with them to protect water quality and the environment, and help them meet their regulatory responsibilities.

Brent says with environmental issues top-of-mind, those working in sectors from agriculture to civil construction are looking for efficient, effective solutions and down-to-earth advice on water quality. “Prime Pump staff are up to date with the latest reg.s and are trained to be able to transfer their knowledge to clients without over-complicating things.” He says that includes developing workable Chemical Treatment Management Plans (CTMPs).

The commitment to ongoing training is a logical progression for Prime Pump. “We’re ahead of the curve and we want to keep it that way,” Brent says.

While ensuring water quality and mitigating environmental impact is a common factor in much of Prime Pump’s work they have also worked on some of New Zealand’s most sensitive and closely scrutinised projects. These included; the Jervois Quay, central city Wellington, overpump, and a sewage upgrade on the shores of Queenstown’s iconic Lake Wakatipu. Meticulous planning, sophisticated back-up systems, and the right personnel and equipment contributed to these being completed on time and without a hitch.
