Allen Petrie
Managing Director
Allen originally worked in the farm machinery industry before starting his own pumping business, in Nelson, in the early 1990s. In over 30 years in the industry he has amassed invaluable knowledge and experience across a huge range of industries, pumps and applications.
Oliver Brewer
Workshop Team Leader
Oliver has diesel flowing through his veins. As far back as he can remember he was fascinated by engines and taking things apart and putting them back together. At Prime Pump he learned from the very best and now oversees a workshop with pump building and maintenance capabilities unmatched anywhere else in New Zealand
Amy Connor
Admin & Finance Co-ordinator
Amy understands accounting systems and financial reports like no other. A long-time secretary and administrator for major organisations, her talents and insights are now very welcome here.
Ricardo Holt
Civil & Mining Sales Engineer, Waikato and North
Ricardo had 7 years in the power generation industry under his belt and expertise in the details on the hire sector when he joined our team. A bit of a diesel fanatic he spent two years working on specialist replacement generators in areas including hospitals.
Brian McKay
Workshop & service assistant
From packaging and dispatch to helping in the workshop there is nothing Brian can’t turn his hand to. Always positive and up-beat he’s the joker of the team and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Sales Support
Sales and support have been the constants throughout Christine’s career. Now she brings those talents to our team, working on quoting and co-ordinating sales travel.
Ben Petrie
Industrial & Agri Team Leader
Since beginning his career in pumping in 2002, Ben has worked on everything from domestic systems to chemical process and effluent pumps. Today, he is responsible for all international contacts, ensuring that Prime Pump continues to bring home only the world’s best. In this he is supported by a wide network of global industry professionals, and leaders, who are always at hand or advice. Ben also specialises in the industrial and agricultural markets, within New Zealand.
Charlie Petrie
Sales & Hire Support
Charlie began with the Prime Pump team working in dispatch, inwards goods and logistics. He soon showed an interest and talent for sales which was backed by his thorough product knowledge. Today, Charlie guides hire and sales smoothly through to deployment and enjoys ensuring that each one consistently exceeds customers’ expectations.
Sam Godinho
Operations, Auckland
Sam combines hands-on experience with being computer savvy. He says working his way up through manufacturing, purchasing, and sales, before joining Prime Pump, gave him an in-depth understanding of products and how systems works. A skilled multi-tasker, Sam is enthusiastic about making things better and helping grow businesses.
Hayden Powell
Civil & Mining Sales Engineer, South Island
Civil contracting was Hayden’s life, managing large projects before he joined the Prime Pump team. Hayden is now a valuable member of the sales operation. Hi background makes him a much-appreciated sounding board both for clients and our staff.
Glenn Williams
Workshop
Glenn served his automotive electrician apprenticeship before working in the industry for several decades. Time as a driller, collecting water and gold samples, and working on heavy vehicles and pumps on a gold claim added to experience which is standing him in good stead as part of the Prime Pump team.
Cameron Petrie
Operations Team Leader
Cameron has an extensive knowledge of all aspects of the pumping industry and has experience working across the full range of sectors Prime Pump is active in. His depth of understanding and expertise give him the ability to provide both comprehensive oversight and perceptive insights.
Ben Beatson
Civil & Mining Sales Engineer, Lower North Island
In over ten years in the construction industry, Ben has acquired expertise and experience supplying large scale projects throughout New Zealand and across the Tasman. He brings to the Prime Pump team a genuine passion for creating solutions to difficult problems, and in challenging situations and environments.
Lachlan Field
Procurement
Lachlan brings to Prime Pump a range of valuable and transferable skills, thanks to a diverse background, (from mining equipment storeman to bespoke street furniture manufacturing). A champion of improving processes, Lachlan is relishing his role in procurement and focussing on continuing to have the best possible systems in place.
Tony Hylands
Industrial Sales Engineer
Tony began his career in pumping in 1996, as South Island Sales Manager for MacEwan’s. After 13 years, he went out on his own, founding the successful Pump and Vacuum Specialists which he sold, in 2017, to Prime Pump. Today, he adds his extensive expertise and experience to the Prime Pump team.
Brent Petrie
Special Projects / R&D Team Leader
On leaving school, Brent worked in the family pumping business for three years before moving into the building industry. Five years later, he returned to Prime Pump, bringing this experience to his role specialising in the civil and mining sectors.
George Everest
Operations, Christchurch
George joined Prime Pump straight from school, motivated by a fascination with Civil and mining. George says he has had a long-time interest in the industries Prime Pump supplies. He enjoys visiting different work sites and mines and being involved in the process from the first phone call through to deployment.
Ambrose Holt
Operations, Tauranga
A problem solver by nature, Ambrose enjoys the opportunity to go onsite and find the best solutions for Prime Pump clients. He says he is motivated by the satisfaction that comes from engaging with people on the job and dealing with larger scale projects and bigger machines, something he says has always held an interest
for him.
Nathan Sandford
Operations, Wellington
Wellington born and bred, Nathan worked in engineering before joining Prime Pump. He says he especially enjoys the opportunity his Operations job gives him to be immersed in the pump technology business and to get out and about and work on projects including civil infrastructure. “It’s good knowing that, in my own small way, I’ve been part of that.”
Bailey Russ
Dispatch/Stores
Bailey, says he’d always had a broad interest in machinery but didn’t realise, until he joined Prime Pump, how extensive and diverse pumping technology was. “I think it’s great. There’s a lot to learn but it’s all interesting and I can see, here, how it all comes together. It’s a great place to work.”
Vanessa Brewer
Management Assistant
As a student at secondary school, Vanessa chose to do an audit of Prime Pump’s Envirohub marketing as part of her business course. Her brother, Oliver, works for the company so she said she already knew “a little bit” about it. Not too long after, and Vanessa is now making a valued contribution to the company and enjoying the culture. “It’s a really good place to work.”
Spencer Powell
Workshop Engineer
Fascinated by how things work since he can remember, and driving diggers from an early age, Spencer began at Prime Pump as a youngster in the school holidays helping-out with “all sorts of jobs”. But he says he was particularly drawn to what the mechanics were doing. “It’s always been where I wanted to head.” His position as workshop engineer hasn’t disappointed. “It’s interesting, exciting, and I’m really enjoying it.”
Mike Fever
Workshop & Service Assistant
A very experienced fitter welder/coachbuilder Mike is a welcome addition to the Prime Pump Greymouth workshop. He says transferring skills developed in years building motorhomes and working with industrial valves has been seamless, helped along by the Prime Pump team. “They’re good people. The best.”
As well as relishing the work challenges, Mike is embracing life on the West Coast; exploring, working on his property, and signing up for the West Coast Holden Owners Group.
Richard Haywood
Operations, Christchurch
Coming from a background in food logistics and warehousing, ensuring that the right things are in the right places, at the right time is second nature to Richard.
He combines well-honed organisational skills with a passion for anything hands-on and mechanical. Richard, who relishes the variety and pace of Prime Pump’s busy, high energy environment, says he is an “active relaxer” who enjoys home DIY and spending time with his family in Canterbury’s great outdoors.
